On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the premises of URMAPha University of Abomey-Calavi, the official launch ceremony was held for the Certificate in Phytomedicine and Phytopharmacy, established by Decree No. 583-2025/UAC/SG/VR-AA/CPUAQ/CEOU of June 20, 2025.
The ceremony was attended by the beneficiaries of the first cohort, certified instructors, representatives of the major traditional medicine federations in Benin, and other institutional partners. The program is supported by the Ministry of Health’s National Pharmacopoeia and Traditional Medicine Program and is part of the MINNAGAN project, funded by the European Union and Erasmus Plus. We would like to thank our proud partners, the University of Helsinki through Prof. Leena Hanski, Inés Reigada Ocaña, and the Universidad San Jorge through Prof. VÃctor López, PharmD, MPharm, PhD, the University of Parakou through Prof. Christine Ajokè I. N OUINSAVI, the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (UNSTIM Abomey) through Prof. Klotoe Jean Robert.
📚 The Certificate program covers phytomedicine, phytopharmacy, botany, pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry, toxicology, formulation and quality control, pharmaceutical regulations, and leadership in phytomedicine and phytopharmacy, offering rigorous and professional training to promote medicinal plants for scientifically validated therapeutic purposes.
This memorable ceremony marks a new milestone in the promotion of traditional medicine, applied research, and innovation in Benin.
